Calchas receives a sign from heaven suggesting guile must be used to take Troy. Odysseus conceives the trick of the Trojan Horse. Sinon volunteers to remain outside the horse to fool the Trojans. Laocoon tries to convince the Trojans of the truth; he and his sons are punished by the gods. Cassandra's prophecies ignored.
